Category: Windows administrationFlavin-containing monooxygenases are members of a family of proteins that also includes members of the cytochrome P450 and laccase families. These proteins contain characteristic flavin-containing prosthetic groups, however, the precise relationship between the flavin-containing prosthetic group and the substrate specificities and catalytic activities of these enzymes is not well understood. The overall goal of this proposal is to determine the role of the flavin-containing prosthetic group in determining the activity of the enzyme. This will be done by comparing the activity and properties of the enzyme from two strains of Bacillus megaterium which differ with respect to their ability to produce the chromoproteins, one of which produces 2-hydroxymuconic semialdehyde which is oxidized by the enzyme to 2- hydroxyphenylacetic acid, while the other does not. In addition, experiments will be performed to determine if the flavin can interact with the substrate, the protein, the enzyme or the catalytic cofactor, FAD.[Thoracoscopic resection of right lower lobe hilar mass through a limited thoracic incision].
Pulmonary nodules and tumors in the right lower lobe account for a significant proportion of the resected specimen. The key point is to perform a thoracoscopic resection of the hilar mass. The aim of this study is to introduce our experience on thoracoscopic resection of right lower lobe hilar mass through a limited thoracic incision. From August 2007 to March 2009, we operated on 15 cases with a hilar mass, whose mean age was 65.2 years (range, 49 to 78 years). The patients' mean body weight was 61.4 kg (range, 48 to 79 kg) and the mean operative time was 194 min (range, 130 to 235 min). The hilar mass in 10 patients was detected by computed tomography (CT). The size of the mass ranged from 2 to 5 cm.
